Manitoba Hydro International along with the Manitoba HVDC Research Centre was contracted by Saudi Electric Company to improve the performance of SEC’s electricity transmission network. The project focused on unifying the operations of SEC across four distinct operating areas and building capacity of local staff.
The project included:
- Black start system restoration plans;
- Operating policies, procedures, and guidelines;
- Engineering studies including interconnection studies, line energizing and voltage studies, harmonic studies, load flow studies, fault level studies, dynamic studies, and electromagnetic transient studies;
- And dispatcher training.
MHI’s work is continuing in operations and has expanded into maintenance and other business lines, including distribution and strategic planning.
