InterGroup is an independent, multi-disciplinary firm based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We have over 40 years of experience providing a wide range of consulting services to clients and industries across western and northern Canada. Our team has backgrounds in a broad range of disciplines relevant to our clients’ needs, including natural resource management, business and economics, geography, planning, anthropology/archaeology and cultural resource management. InterGroup’s expertise is drawn from a team of full-time senior and intermediate consultants, who, along with our experienced research analysts, have undertaken over 800 assignments. Our projects have involved interaction with a broad array of stakeholders, including government agencies, industry, rural municipalities and Indigenous peoples.
Our Expertise
InterGroup was among the first practitioners of socio-economic impact assessment in western Canada, focused primarily on major resource projects. Since 1978, InterGroup has prepared socio-economic impact assessments for more than 20 major resource, infrastructure and urban development projects across western Canada.
We have extensive experience developing and delivering effective public engagement programs. While having particular experience delivering engagement programs involving northern and remote communities, InterGroup is also accustomed to designing extensive engagement methods for unique audiences including governments, Indigenous communities, industry and business, environmental organizations and the general public.
InterGroup provides expert advice and support for the development and review of rates for regulated utilities. We draft applications and supporting materials, retaining sub-consultant specialists when required and ensuring filing materials are consistent with regulatory requirements and timelines. In addition, InterGroup also provides hearing support to rate regulation clients including managing information request processes, preparing issue briefs and appearing as expert witnesses during rate hearings.
InterGroup is also a leading cultural heritage resource consultant who partners with developers and communities to ensure the proper management and preservation of cultural resources in their care. Our team of professional archaeologists and anthropologists have extensive experience working on archaeological projects in Manitoba, Northwest Ontario and Saskatchewan, with special expertise on projects relating to Indigenous culture and heritage.

Our clients include private and Crown corporations; major resource development companies in the hydro-electric, mining, oil and gas and forestry sectors; Indigenous development corporations; and non-government organizations. We also work collaboratively with Indigenous communities and local communities adhering participatory research models.
